So, I get home, sit down, relax a little and unwind from a long day at work….
Not! Kids plus Wife equals no relaxation. I haven’t had a “real” (to me anyway) vacation in years…
What I really did when I got home today was:
a) physically pick up the kids, because if someone isn’t paying attention to them or holding them, then they are whiny and it’s worse for everyone.
b) clean the kids’ playroom… not an easy chore with 2 kids following you around taking the stuff you just put away back into the middle of the floor.
Luckily, I have recently watched “Shaolin Soccer” and it was on my mind. So, I started tossing taking shortcuts like tossing stuff from one side of the room to the other so i could put them away later, but only have to move ‘em a small bit to get ‘em into the right spots. It was exhausting… the playroom is larger than my entire 1st studio apartment and the toys were so thick I couldn’t see the floor.
So… 3 hours later I finally get the chance to sit down… finished cleaning and one of the chil’in is already in bed (supposedly)… the floor is clean… but the other kid, he must be getting tired… he’s crying half-hearted-like.
Time to get him ready for bed… guess I’ll relax some other time…

Not at all surprising for me, really… but I thought my readers (all 3 of you) might get a kick out of this.

You scored as Classical Liberal. You are a classical liberal. You are sceptical about much of the historicity of the Bible, and the most important thing Jesus has done is to set us a good moral example that we are to follow. Doctrines like the trinity and the incarnation are speculative and not really important, and in the face of science and philosophy the surest way we can be certain about God is by our inner awareness of him. Discipleship is expressed by good moral behaviour, but inward religious feeling is most important.

One would think that a space that was 14′x9′ would be big enough to keep a kid happy and stuff for days on end. Heck, most babies get stuck in a playpen that’s only 3′x4′… So why is it, then, that as soon as my son’s feet hit the floor in his half of the playroom, he starts to cry? Oh sure, he peters out a few minutes later, but only because he’s set himself to the task of securing an escape route past the fence that separates his side from his sister’s.
He’s figured out that he is heavy enough to push the fence open if there isn’t anything behind it, so we’ve had to load down the other side of the “Super Yard” fence with a beanbag, a rocking chair, and a television cart. He’s figured out that he can wiggle behind the couch that holds up one end of the fence, so we blocked the entrance to this crevasse with his largest toy… but he figured out, today, that he can simply drag the toy out of the way. Now, we have a large plastic box stuffed into the opening and wedged so tight he can’t pull it out… but it’s not tall enough to keep him from being able to climb over it.
And can you believe that Jacob is only 11 months old?
